Building your music playlist can be sometimes challenging. Organizing your music can be sometimes confusing because of the overwhelming feeling of wedding preparations. Don’t panic. All you need to do is to spend a few minutes to an hour to build your music playlist. You might take some time if you are having your guests to pick some requests as you need to wait for their replies but if this isn’t an option for you, doing it on your own is very easy and hassle-free. Here are some ways to build your wedding playlist easily.

Spotify

Spotify is free and easy to use. All you need to do to sign up is link your social media accounts like Facebook and Twitter. Just 1 click and you’re ready. You may also register your email address if you don’t want to link-in your social media accounts. You may need to familiarize yourself with the user-interface but once you get familiar it is easy to build a playlist. All you need to do is to “Add a playlist” which is found on the left side of your Spotify Desktop App (you can do this in mobile as well). Rename your playlist with a name like “Dancing Music for Wedding” or anything that will remind you easily if the music is for your reception dancing or background music for your reception. Go to the search bar which is usually found on the top. Type the song, band, genre that you want and you will see a list of songs. Right click to the title and choose “Add to your Playlist” and select the playlist where you want the song to be added.

Keep doing adding songs to your playlist until you are done. You may share this to your wedding DJ by clicking your playlist name and click the share button. Copy the URL and let your DJ know about your playlist.

Youtube

Youtube is another free and easy option for you to build your wedding playlist easily. However unlike Spotify, you need a Google account to use Youtube. You need to familiarize yourself with the user-interface to use it well. Same as Spotify, you need to build a playlist, search for a song and add it in to your playlist. Make sure that you rename your list into something that will remind you easily that the music is for your wedding. Go to the search bar to look up for the songs and add it in to your playlist. Once you are done, copy the URL of your playlist and share to your wedding DJ. Your wedding DJ will take it from there.

Spreadsheets/Word Document

If you prefer it old school,  you may want to type or paste the songs “manually” to a spreadsheet or word doc then pass it on to your wedding DJ. This might take a little time than using Youtube or Spotify but if you are more comfortable with this, you may do so. You may use Google to look for the songs you like. Copy the songs and paste it over your spreadsheet or word processor software. Once you are done, you may email your DJ and don’t forget to attach your file in.

Cloud Storage (Dropbox, Google Drive etc.)

You might have some very specific songs that you want to be played in your wedding. Mashups, cut versions, traditional songs or foreign songs are just some of the songs that you might want to be specific with your wedding DJ or wedding music supplier. They most likely don’t have this and they will ask you for a copy either USB or through online folders. Using online sharing websites can let your wedding DJ access these songs easily.

You may use cloud storage websites like Dropbox, Google Drive or others. Just make sure that the link to your folder can be accessed by the people “with the link” so your wedding DJ don’t need to sign-up to any accounts and access your folder hassle-free.
