Probably the first three things thing that most couples look forward to during the early stages of preparations are the following: finding a good ceremony and reception venue, hiring a caterer that would make everyone full and satisfied, and of course, getting that magnificent photographer to capture that very special day. If you look clearly, these three alone can pretty much consume a huge amount from the wedding budget.

It is not surprising that when planning a wedding, budget for other things such as entertainment, are often being miscalculated. Some couples even have the tendency to hire amateurs or trust their relatives and friends (to emcee the event or handle the coordination) who they think can do the job. Sometimes, however, saving money by hiring non-professionals often come with a high price tag.

When it comes to choosing your wedding entertainment, don’t leave everything in the hands of an amateur. And before you make a decision that you would regret, read some of the things you need to know below before actually finalizing that booking.

Amateurs don’t have the best equipment to maintain a smooth and flawless event.  A fully functional set of equipment is essential to make sure that everything will work smoothly. When the unexpected happens, you might not have any music at all during a wedding. Besides, these amateurs don’t have backups to save the day.

Amateurs invest less in their performance. Most amateur DJs are doing it as a means of hobby while real professionals invest time and effort to practice their craft. One bad review can destroy a business and professionals take it seriously. If something goes wrong, professionals can even refund the amount to you and that is something amateurs won’t do.

Amateurs can’t keep the crowd up. Sure they can play good songs and they can even accommodate requests too, but most of the time, they just don’t have the power to make it work or encourage the guests to actually stand up and dance.

Amateur DJs who charge less invest less. Music is one of the most important aspects of a wedding. If the music fails, the program fails. DJs who charge less could mean their equipment is less capable and at the end of the day, they just won’t care.

Your wedding only happens once so it’s best to check everything first before finalizing the booking. Constantly look for reviews, awards, and other factors when choosing an entertainment for your wedding.
